The Auvergne Allier may be one of France's best kept secrets. From endless sunflower fields to gorgeous towns, to the beauty of Moulins (Ancestral seat of the House Of Bourbon) and the famous waters of Vichy, the area has much to offer. But because it is off the beaten path, few tourists know about it. Though this is changing... Below are some things you won't want to miss if you are passing through the area.

The extraordinary time capsule Maison Mantin. The Belle Époque bourgeois collector/owner willed his home to the town of Moulins on the condition: The doors would remain locked for 100 YEARS! Have a meal at Le Grande Cafe (or any of the dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance). Since 1899, this legendary cafe has served locally sourced Bourbonnais cuisine in an extraordinary atmosphere.
